Kooyoora WOC 85 revisited – Tues 22 – Thurs 24 April 2025

It’s 40 years since the World Orienteering Championship (WOC) came to Australia and was held at legendary Kooyoora near Inglewood.

To mark this occasion a selection of courses will be set on the Kooyoora map incorporating control sites and legs from the WOC courses.  You’ll be able to compare your split times with those of the 1985 WOC champions and compare times and routes with your rivals in Livelox.

For $12 you will receive a pack of three courses on three different parts of the Kooyoora map, so you can run one course each day or combine them in one long day.  Choose either an A pack or a B pack depending on the distance you want to run (or walk), as follows:

Map partApproximate distance (km)
 AB
Melville Caves5.03.6
Kooyoora Central4.63.0
Bermuda Triangle4.83.2

The courses include a total of 19 WOC control sites and 16 different legs from the WOC Men and Women courses, plus additional controls to make logical loops.  All maps are 1:7,500.  The map pack will also include a souvenir copy of the compete Kooyoora map and WOC courses.

Courses involve difficult navigation and are not suitable for beginners.

Course files will be available to download from MapRun and O-Range (app for Garmin) so you can confirm and record your control visits.

Control sites will be marked with small training flags or tape but no stand or punch.  There are no set start times or days.  Turn up and run when it suits you and then upload your route to Livelox. This is a DIY activity.  No infrastructure or officials will be present.

Please keep groups to less than thirty people if you are planning to meet up and do a course at the same place and time.

Be courteous to other park users.
